Meanwhile, after the Congress released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Punjab elections, party MLA Amrik Dhillon and Satwinder Bitti expressed disapproval as their kin and supporters have been denied tickets.

The Shiromani Akali Dal has announced that its veteran leader Parkash Singh Badal will contest from the Lambi constituency seat in the Punjab polls.

Badal had won the 2017 Assembly elections from the seat, defeating Captain Amarinder Singh, who went on to secure the Patiala Urban seat.

The ruling BJP on Wednesday announced its second list of six candidates for the upcoming Goa assembly elections. The list includes Rajesh Tulshidas Patnekar from Bicholim legislative assembly contituency, Joseph Robert Sequeira from Calangute, Antonio Fernandes from St. Cruz, Janita Pandurang Madkaikar from Cumbarjua, Narayan G Naik from Cortalim and Anthony Barbosa from Curtorim. The BJP had last week released its first list of 34 candidates of the total 40 constituencies in the state for the 14 February polls, fielding Chief Minister Pramod Sawant from his Sanquelim seat, even as the party denied the Panaji constituency ticket to Utpal Parrikar, son of party stalwart and ex-CM late Manohar Parrikar.

Meanwhile, after the Congress released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Punjab elections, party MLA Amrik Dhillon and Satwinder Bitti expressed disapproval as their kin and supporters have been denied tickets. Dhillon, a four-time MLA from Samrala who wanted a ticket for his grandson Karanvir Dhillon, said, “We’re waiting for a response from the high command. If the list is not rectified, we will announce the next step.” Similarly, Bitti from Sanhewal said, “(Ex-CM) Rajinder Kaur Bhattal’s son-in-law Vikram Bajwa who has been given a ticket is an outsider. We will announce our next step soon.”
