With the clock ticking, it’s an all out hunt by the BJP for allies. The party held a key strategy meeting to discuss post-poll strategies at the party’s Prime Ministerial Candidate LK Advani’s residence in New Delhi. Ravi Shankar Prasad, general secretary of BJP, said that the meeting was called so that the party could take stock of the post-poll strategy. He also said that they would start discussions with their allies.
Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi flew down to the capital as BJP’s key negotiator.
Other senior BJP leaders who attended the meeting are party president Rajnath Singh, party spokespersons Prakash Javdekar and Balbir Punj. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain minced no words and said Modi was there to rope in more allies. BJP’s strategist Gurumurthy too attended the party meeting.
The NDA has appointed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Gurumurthy to try and garner regional support post May 16. In fact, their specific role continues to rope in AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa who could play kingmaker in the post-counting scenario.
