It is situated near the Narmada River at a height of over 200 metres above sea level and covers an area of over 30 sqkms. It was a part of Dhule until its bifurcation in 1998 and has a population of over 112,000 of which about 10% is under the age of 6. 52% of the population is male and the sex ratio is 930 females per 1,000 males.
